Sunrise/Sunset Canoe Trips
Join us for a guided hike, but on the water in a canoe! This canoe trip is designed to acquaint participants with the natural surroundings of Deer Creek. The emphasis, during these relaxed excursions, is on environmental education and interpretation, provided by the naturalist who accompanies the group. Bring your family, group, or a friend and enjoy the wildness of Deer Creek.
Age Restricted Program
Under 6 yrs. old not allowed
Ages 6-7, 1 adult per child in a boat
Ages 8-12, 1 adult in a boat
Ages 13-15, 1 adult on the trip
Ages 16-17, guardian signed release form only

Preschool Nature Series
Bring your preschooler to Eden Mill to discover the wonder of nature! Programs will include nature games and activities, a story, craft, and a hike exploring the landscape.

Homeschool Environmental Study Series
Join us on a quest to discover all that parks have to offer! We will research a different National Park each week. Participants will learn their significance and discover what we can apply locally, as we hike and explore the trails and terrain of Eden Mill. We will also focus on preparedness and safety, so students will be ready to explore any wilderness!

Fly Tying
Learn the art of tying flies. Basic techniques used to tie nymphs, streamers, wet, and dry flies will be shown. Participants will be tying flies for their own use. Each night will cover two patterns. Each class will focus on different patterns and no two classes will be alike. Attend one or as many classes as you like.

Group Canoe Paddling, Safety And Rescue Training
One day tandem canoe paddling, safety and rescue training program for your group of 4 to 8 participants. Program can be scheduled around your requirements and is held on Deer Creek at Eden Mill Nature Center. Eden Mill provides all the necessary equipment including canoes, paddles, and life jackets. This is an American Canoe Association Skills Course taught by A.C.A. certified instructors.
Course includes paddle safety and effective paddling strokes. You will learn and practice techniques for rescuing a capsized canoe and its occupants.

Hunting the Haunted
Join Adam Elliott, a professional storyteller, licensed educator, historical researcher, and paranormal investigator, for an evening of TRUE ghost stories and a guided ghost hunt featuring cutting-edge tech equipment. Enjoy some chilling local ghost stories, hear and see paranormal evidence collected at past investigations, and participate in guided ghost hunts of the mill and cemetery (weather permitting).

Owl Prowls
Join us after dark to search the woods of Eden Mill for some of Maryland’s native owls and wildlife!
Learn about these incredible creatures while we call them, and track them through the woods.

Bee Hive Maintenance
Observe honey bees in action as we pull and show frames from the hive and learn about what the busy bees are doing! This program is geared for the general public.

Junior Naturalist
Learn the ins and outs of animal husbandry with Eden Mill’s resident animal ambassadors! This program will take you behind the scenes of our nature center and give you a chance to be a naturalist for the day!
